Why Cub Scout Camp?  It’s one of the most affordable summer programs available in our area.  We’ve assembled a masterful staff eager to present a quality camping program to you  and your Scout. We continue to offer great  camp traditions and build upon the past  to maintain a fresh program. The Council’s camps consistently receive high scores for programming and operational procedures, as well as for their quality staff and dynamic offerings. It’s a program that centers around character development, citizenship and a commitment to always trying your best. And in a way that Scouting does best, we present an array of opportunities for the entire family to get involved in the Scout’s experience!

Spending your summer at a Pioneer Valley Council Cub Scout camp means you’re getting an adventure that promises skills, advancement, friendship, laughter, character-building and a whole lot of fun. 

The camp that combines the most exciting aspects of Scouting with summertime fun - right in your backyard! Camps are located in each district, with unique themes and programs each week, including our popular Twilight Session at Moses Scout Reservation. The camps are open to all registered Cub Scouts. FEATURING: Archery, Crafts, Nature, Fishing, BB Shooting, Sports & Games, Swimming, and Scoutcraft.  An end of the week BBQ top off each week, and campfires will close the day of the Twilight Session.

KidTown, our sibling program, is open to all children under 10 years old who have parents volunteering that day at camp

ACCREDITATION  Our summer camps adhere to the strictest of operational standards.  In addition to carrying licenses with local and state recreational and health authorities, our programs are annually granted status as NATIONALLY ACCREDITED CAMPS by the Boy Scouts of America, demonstrating compliance with dozens of programming and operational standards.

STAFF The Pioneer Valley Council carefully selects its camp staff members to meet extensive qualifications.  Our directors hold degrees in education, are nationally trained and certified in camp management, and carry experience working in Scouting and with youth recreation programs.  It’s all to best demonstrate the principles and dedication dictated in the Scouting program.

PROGRAMMING & ADVANCEMENT Our summer camps are aligned with the Boy Scouts of America’s carefully designed program of age-appropriate activities, assuring that programs are safe but challenging, designed with the boy in mind.  Campers have the opportunity to advance in Scouting by completing requirements at camp.  In addition, unit recognition and the Summertime Pack Award can be earned just by attending a session of camp!

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT Scouting is a family adventure, and that doesn’t stop with camp!  At our Day Camp we encourage parents to join us for one or more days as a volunteer leader.  A FREE camp program is offered to siblings of parents who spend time with us helping out! 

HEALTH & SAFETY  Each camp employs a certified health and safety officer to assure the camp is operating in a safe and secure manner and to administer medical care, distribute medications and handle health records. 

FINANCIAL AID It is the policy of the Pioneer Valley Council that no Scout should be denied a camp experience simply because his family cannot afford it.  Families that may be eligible for financial assistance should request a CAMPERSHIP application from the Scout Service Center or on our website as soon as possible. 

REFUNDS Refunds are made for exceptional circumstances if notice is given at least one week prior to the start of camp.  All requests must be submitted in writing to the Pioneer Valley Council.

HOW TO REGISTER: TWO GREAT WAYS! Contact your unit leader and coordinate which week your den, patrol or pack plans to attend camp and register for the same week.  Or, send in your registration on your own and we’ll sign you up today!

ONCE YOU’VE REGISTERED... Once we receive your registration and payment, we will send you information outlining what you’ll need to do to get ready to join us at camp.  Our primary means of communication will be through e-mail and our website, though you may get information at the Scout Service Center or in the mail.

INFORMATION FOR REGISTERED CAMPERS...

ARRIVAL All campers should arrive at camp at 8:30 a.m. (during Twilight Week, 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. Friday).  NO CAMPERS SHOULD ARRIVE PRIOR TO THESE TIMES.  Campers will be checked in and meet with their dens.  On Mondays, parents should plan to check in along with their camper, and campers will get their camp shirt, water bottle, totem and den assignment.  

DISMISSAL The camp day ends at 4 p.m. (8:30 p.m. during Twilight Week).  Please be prompt in picking up your camper, as we are not able to provide after-camp supervision.  Each camper MUST be signed out with his den leader at the end of the day.  If a camper is going home with someone other than his primary parent/guardian, you must provide a note to the camp director in advance.  

ABSENSE/LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY DISMISSAL Please notify us of any absences ahead of time through a written note.  Families of campers not in attendance at check-in will be notified by the health and safety officer to verify their absence.  All campers being dismissed early must be signed out through the health and safety officer.    

MEDICAL FORMS All camp participants—campers, KidTown participants and volunteers—must have a Class 3 Medical History on file with the camp, signed by a physician.  

WHAT TO BRING
-    INSECT REPELLANT & SUNSCREEN:  staff members can’t apply it to campers, so please apply it before you come to camp and teach your camper how to apply it himself.
-    SOCKS & SHOES:  Everyone in camp (including parents) must have socks and close-toed close-heeled shoes.  Campers not following this rule will not be allowed to stay in camp.
-    HAT
-    BANDANA to moisten to keep cool
-    RAIN GEAR:  We operate rain or shine, so be sure your camper has a raincoat or poncho
-    BATHING SUIT and TOWEL Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
-    Should they come home by accident, your WATER BOTTLE and TOTEM that you will get on Monday morning.
-    BACKPACKS are great to keep it all together!
-    CAMP CHAIR for parents who are volunteering, as seating might be limited at some locations
-    Be sure to LABEL EVERYTHING with your Scout’s name
-    Please leave all ELECTRONICS and VALUABLES at home.  We assume no responsibility for lost or stolen items.


TRADING POST Our camp shop will be open daily with inexpensive items available for purchase.  Snacks, limited issue camp sweatshirts and t-shirts, snacks, camp gadgets and trinkets will all be available for sale—many for under $1.00.
  

MEDICATIONS Our health and safety officer is the only camp employee authorized to distribute medications of any kind.  Please send any medications your child will require to camp on Monday.  Medications will stay locked and secured, and will send them home on Friday.  All medications MUST be in their original containers.  

SWIMMING Swimming is a recreational, non-instructional activity period for campers where available.  Unless severe weather prevents us, we’ll be swimming Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week.  Depending on the schedule (which will be determined closer to camp), we will let you know if you should pack your suit or wear it to camp and pack a change of clothes

VISITORS IN CAMP All visitors must register with the camp health and safety officer and are required to wear a visitor tag when in camp with us.
