Blandford Fair Grounds
Blandford, MA.
Knox Trail's fall camporee is co-chaired by Sheri Kreps and Lloyd Martin.
The round robins and other events will be run by Scoutmasters and Venture
Crews of Knox Trail and Springfield District.
The goal is to have Scoutmasters of participating troops run/teach a round
robin event. Each event will consist of various parts of the Emergency
Preparedness merit badge.
The First Aid merit badge is needed to complete this merit badge.
There are many requirements, and time is short. To accomplish our
goals, requirements are grouped into themes thus making it easy to schedule
and making it easier on you, the instructors, to teach. There are 8
themes:
· FIRE (assigned to Troop 77)
· DANGERS THAT ARE NOT SEEN
· MOTOR EMERGENCIES
· NATURE RELATED
· HUMAN ELEMENT
· GROUP EFFORT
· SUNDAY MORNING
· FRIDAY NIGHT ASSIGNMENT (assigned to Crew
101)
Please inform your Scouts that there is an assignment due Friday night,
which should be prepared prior to arrival. Also, there is a mandatory movie
which must be viewed as well. This is covered by the FRIDAY NIGHT ASSIGNMENT.
Details to follow.
Round robins will be 1 hour in length, which will include travel to next
round robin station and punch card marking.
Opening ceremony is at 8 am on Saturday. The first robin is scheduled to
run 8:30 to 9:30. There is an activity break after each training which will
be an hour as well. 1 hour for lunch. The schedule may vary depending on types
of activities scheduled. The last robin could last until 17:30.
Please sign up early to teach a round robin of your choice. You can
double up with another Scoutmaster to get the job done. The Friday
night assignment has been filled by Venture Crew 101. Fritz can be the contact
point as he is easily reached at the Council Service Center at 594-9196 or
fschmidt@bsamail.org.
There may be a desert-cooking cook-off.
The camp fire will consist of skits or songs put on by the scouts.
These skits/songs will be judged and ribbons will be awarded at closing ceremonies.
Please encourage your scouts to practice and have all members of the patrol
to participate. Props may be used.
There will be a final round robin held Sunday morning so plan on cooking
a second breakfast. If all goes well you should be out by noon.
Propane stoves are encouraged. Wood fires must at least 18 inches off the
ground. Bring your own wood. Take your trash home.
Water is available on site.
There is a possibility of bottled water, soda, and maybe French fries sold
at Scout discount prices.
The patches are real cool looking.
The patches have already been made. They were designed to match the
one distributed at Springfield District’s fall of “07” camporee. So
it’s first come, first get, for scouts who sign up first and attend.
Leftovers, if any, will go to attending leaders by way of a lottery.
